Question by : Why do most conservatives support a school voucher program?
The basic idea behind a voucher program is that the government hands a check to the school, then the school can conduct their curriculum as they see fit.
The obvious problem here is that the school is still getting their funding from the government. In every country where voucher programs have been adopted the long-term effect is that the government has far more power over the schools.
This seems to be counter-intuitive to most conservative ideology.

No you’re not getting your money from the government. You pay the taxes remember. You’re getting what you put in. It’s that simple. It’s worked wonders in the Scandinavian countries. It generally cannot be a bad idea except for people like Al Sharpton who see fit to call everything “racist”. Ed Schultz even called a budget “racist”
